LED Guardian Compass

An 8-LED ring on the bracelet points children toward their guardian using color-coded directional lights — no screen needed.

In Simple Terms

"The lights on your bracelet point you toward your mom or dad like a magic arrow. Green means they're close, yellow means walk that way, red means they're far. You just follow the brightest light!"

How It Works

Eight RGB LEDs are arranged in a compass rose pattern around the bracelet face. Using the guardian's phone GPS and the bracelet's own position, the system calculates the bearing to the guardian.

The LED closest to the guardian's direction lights up brightest. Color indicates distance: green (within 30ft), yellow (30-100ft), red (100ft+). Brightness pulses faster as the child gets closer.

Three modes: Guardian Finder (default — points to nearest guardian), Safe Zone (all green when inside geofence, red LEDs indicate boundary direction), and Party Mode (decorative rainbow pattern for fun).

The compass works without any screen interaction — perfect for young children who can't read maps. It's intuitive: just walk toward the bright light.

How the LED Compass Works

The SafeStep bracelet has 12 LEDs arranged in a ring around the face. Using Bluetooth signal strength and mesh network triangulation, it calculates the direction to the paired guardian device. The closest LED glows brightest orange, with neighboring LEDs fading out — creating an intuitive directional arrow that even young children can follow without reading or using a screen.

Try Trek Mode on Your Phone

Point your phone in different directions and watch the LED ring respond in real time. Your phone's compass becomes the bracelet — turn until the lights reach 12 o'clock!
