Eight-point conductivity sensors detect submersion instantly, distinguishing between splashing, swimming, and drowning.

"The bracelet knows if you're in the pool, the bath, or just got splashed. If you go underwater and don't come back up, it tells your parents super fast — way faster than a lifeguard can see you."
Eight conductivity electrodes arranged around the band create a moisture detection grid. By measuring resistance patterns across electrode pairs, the system classifies: dry, splash, partial submersion, and full submersion.
The system distinguishes between salt water and fresh water (different conductivity), and between intentional swimming (rhythmic motion + controlled heart rate) and drowning (erratic motion + elevated heart rate + prolonged submersion).
Drowning detection triggers in under 15 seconds of submersion without swimming motion. The alert includes GPS coordinates, water type classification, and duration of submersion.
IP65-rated housing protects all electronics. The bracelet continues functioning normally in water — it's designed for kids who swim, play in sprinklers, and take baths.
| Sensor Type | 8-point conductivity electrode grid |
| Classification | Dry, splash, partial, full submersion |
| Water Type | Salt water vs fresh water detection |
| Drowning Alert | <15 seconds from submersion |
| Swimming Detection | Rhythmic motion + HR pattern matching |
| Water Rating | IP65 — pool, bath, rain safe |
| Depth Sensing | Barometric pressure delta |
| Alert Includes | GPS, water type, duration, HR |
| False Positive Rate | <1% (multi-sensor validation) |
| Battery Impact | 0.5mA additional when wet |

SafeStep's multi-point conductivity sensors detect water contact in real time — from a splash at the pool to full submersion. Alerts escalate automatically based on exposure level.
