Hot Car Detection

Watch the temperature escalation and auto-alert sequence

In Simple Terms

"If you're in a car and it gets too hot, the bracelet knows — it buzzes, tells your parents, and if nobody comes, it calls 911 all by itself. It's like having a superhero on your wrist that watches the temperature for you."

How It Works

The bracelet continuously monitors ambient temperature and barometric pressure. When it detects the signature pattern of a closed vehicle (rising temperature + stable pressure + minimal motion), it enters Hot Car Watch mode.

Alert escalation follows a strict timeline: at 85°F, a gentle vibration reminds the child. At 90°F, all guardians receive push notifications. At 95°F, the bracelet activates its audible alarm. At 104°F, it auto-dials 911 with GPS coordinates.

The system distinguishes between a hot car and outdoor play by cross-referencing barometric pressure (sealed vehicle vs open air), UV index (no sunlight in a car), and motion patterns (confined space vs free movement).

Even if the phone is out of range, the bracelet stores the temperature curve and GPS coordinates locally, transmitting them as soon as connectivity is restored.

Temperature Monitoring

Hot Car Detection System

SafeStep's onboard temperature sensor continuously monitors ambient temperature. If a child is left in a vehicle, escalating alerts fire within seconds — and 911 is auto-dialed if no guardian responds.

How Hot Car Detection Works

Continuous Monitoring

Onboard NTC thermistor samples ambient temperature 4x per second with ±0.5°F accuracy.

Vehicle Enclosure Detection

Accelerometer stillness + rapid temp rise + GPS stationary = enclosed vehicle confirmed.

Multi-Stage Alerts

Escalating from gentle reminder → urgent alarm → all guardians → 911 auto-call.

Fail-Safe Design

If no guardian responds within 120 seconds, 911 is auto-dialed with GPS coordinates and child profile.
